#TryItTuesday: Crochet Bunny Rabbit Rattle

The older I get, the more sentimental I become and the more I make, the more I see the value in handmade gifts. One of my friends at work is going on maternity leave so I really wanted to make something special for the baby to let her know how much she’ll be missed.

I saw the pattern for this crochet bunny toy at www.lanukas.com and thought it would be perfect. Not to be outdone though I used a very small soft plastic bottle that came with a Hello Fresh order and filled it with kernals of popcorn and inserted it in the centre of the stuffing so that the toy became a rattle.

The blog suggests using two colours of wool but I used Paton’s smooth wool, the multicolouredd flecks in the pale blue made it interesting enough and the blue worked well for a baby boy (you can always stick to neutral colours if you don’t know the sex of the baby yet!). I decided to embroider both eyes instead of using a felt circle but it would be easy to make your own variations.

As per most of my projects, this is a good one for  a quiet night in front of the TV, the pattern is quite straight forward (scroll down for the English version on Lanukas blog). It took me 3-4 hours to make and I’m quite a slow crocheter.

With more friends’ babies on the way I think I may know this pattern by heart soon!
