How to Choose a New Toddler Car Seat

This post is part of a collaboration with Hayley from Mum and Reu. Choosing a new car seat for your baby or toddler can be overwhelming. It’s obviously super important that your little one is as safe and secure as possible in the event of a car accident and not all car seats are born equal! Finding the right one for you can be tough and there isn’t always a one size fits all solution. I’ve put together my top 5 tips for choosing a new car seat to help you find the one that’s perfect for you. Spoiler: I’m not going to talk about budget! You know what you…

Baby Led Weaning: Dairy Free Raspberry Porridge Fingers Recipe

Weaning is going well but I’m finding it really tricky finding enough variety for Theo because of his food allergies and intolerances. I’m doing a combined approach to weaning with a mix of traditional purees and baby led weaning finger foods. Most finger food recipes include milk, egg or wheat though so are off the menu in our house. I decided to adapt the traditional porridge fingers recipe to be dairy free and it worked, they’ve been a big hit with Theo! They’re really easy to make and can be kept in the fridge for a few days after you’ve made them. He has such fun with them and is…

Why Keira Knightley is Wrong for Banning Disney Films

So Keira Knightley has banned her daughter from watching Disney’s Cinderella and The Little Mermaid. Apparently Cinderella waits around for a rich man to come and rescue her and Ariel gives up her voice for a man. I am rolling my eyes. Don’t get me wrong, I believe very strongly in equality but I also believe that we’re getting onto very shaky ground if we remove any reference to women *possibly, maybe, perhaps* being interpreted as anything other than completely independent and strong. Any children’s story can be interpreted with negative connotations – for example, there’s a school of thought that The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is all…

Skip Hop Silver Lining Cloud Activity Centre Review

My husband and I have been debating whether to get Theo an activity centre for a while. By debating, I mean I’ve wanted to buy one and Lee hasn’t wanted me to spend the money in case Theo doesn’t like it. He’s the sensible one! So when the Skip Hop Silver Lining Cloud Activity Centre turned up on our doorstep for us to review we were both over the moon with excitement! One of the things I like most about the activity centre is that it will last for a couple of years. Once the baby is too big for the seat, it can be removed and the footrest transforms…

Mumba Bra Review – An Innovative New Nursing Bra

Mumba Bra very kindly sent me one of their nursing bras to review recently. As a breastfeeding mum, I’ve found nursing bras to be quite hit and miss. If they’re easy to use they don’t fit well or give you  much shape, if they fit nicely then they aren’t easy to feed in etc. The Mumba Bra does both well and it even has some extra, innovative features that really make a difference! The first innovation is the Mumba Clasp; it  allows  you to keep track of which side you last fed from as you go! When you’re sleep deprived it’s hard to remember what happened five minutes before so taking…

Ikea Poang Chair Review – Our New Nursing Chair

I bought the Ikea Poang chair because we’ve recently moved Theo into his own room and I hadn’t realised that I’d need a chair in there to feed him during the night. At first, I used one of our plastic chairs from the kitchen but it really made my back hurt. I’d read lots of good things online about the Poang but wanted to test it out first so I headed over to Ikea with Theo in tow. I’ve heard that Ikea is breastfeeding friendly and they let you sit in the chairs and feed in them but now Theo is on solids he’s only feeding at specific times so…

CMPA Update: First Appointment with the Paediatrician

I’ve talked before about Theo’s CMPA and food intolerances and have previously posted  about it in these posts: CMPA and breastfeeding story and also my dairy free favourites for a CMPA diet. I’m currently cutting out the following from my diet: Dairy Soya Wheat Eggs Beef Theo also has reflux and has been on Ranitidine for a couple of months. He’s now on the maximum dose for his weight but it’s starting to wear off again… he’s getting the hiccups frequently and being sick about a tablespoon’s worth after each feed. He also seems to gurgle a bit in his throat and swallow down bile throughout the day. We were waiting for…

Sleep Diary Week 2 & 3: Baby Nap and Bedtime Routine

I’ve confused myself here and got really behind in putting up the next installment of our baby nap and bedtime routine sleep diary, unfortunately our phone line was cut by some renegade tree surgeons and Openreach and Sky didn’t exactly jump into action but we’re back up and running now! You can read first week’s sleep diary here. How has the sleeping routine gone this week? Well… there have been ups and downs. I’d become bogged down with sticking to the routine by the letter rather than picking up on Theo’s cues. This resulted in a very emotional day at the beginning of last week when I knew I’d done…
